Ontario race fans got their first look at filly pacing sensation Beachy Girl Thursday night as she crushed a field of nine rivals in the lone $15,000(C) division in the opening round of the Whenuwishuponastar Series for rookies at Mohawk Racetrack. Mark MacDonald piloted the daughter of Real Desire-Color Me Beachy and had her on top just past the opening quarter before cruising to a 1:56.4 victory, with a :28.1 final frame. The margin of victory was 2 1/4 lengths over Lola Palooza with B M Mcw finishing third. Beachy Girl, who is trained and co-owned by Joe Seekman, is now undefeated in three career starts and owns a 1:54.4 record taken in her first career start, where she paced a final quarter in :26.4. Hal Hewitt of Versailles, Ky, also shares in the ownership. Beachy Girl is eligible to this year's She's A Great Lady Stakes with eliminations scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25 at Mohawk. Seekman is no stranger to the She's A Great Lady, having won the event in 2003 with Kikikatie. The Whenuwishuponastar Series continues next Thursday night at Mohawk. (WEG)
