See You At Peelers goes for 21 straight Thursday

July 22, 2011 | Print View

Perhaps "Perfection Personified" only works for persons, but we're prepared to take some literary license in the case of See You at Peelers.

Harness racing's Number One storyline makes another Yonkers Raceway visit Thursday night, flaunting her 20-for-20 career resume (4-for-4 here) in the $233,230 New York Sire Stakes Rye Pace. See You at Peelers, 7-for-7 this season, landed outside of her six rivals in $46,826 fifth (final) division, going as the 10th race.

"Peeelers," a daughter of Bettor's Delight, returns to Westchester for the first time since berating the boys in June's $307,734 Art Rooney Pace. It's her first downstate sire stakes appearance of the season, and her first start since winning the $127,000 Tarport Hap at the Meadowlands. See You at Peelers, with more than $1.2 million in lifetime loot, is trained by Jimmy Takter for co-owners (breeder) Christina Takter, Jim and John Fielding. Marcus Johansson, who drove "Peelers" to her convincing Rooney victory, gets a Rye reunion tour.

Thursday night's card also includes the $255,213 New York Sire Stakes Mike Cohen Trot, comprised of seven divisions (including four off the card) for frosh fillies. The race again honors the memory of the publicity director for both Yonkers and NBC Sports. (Yonkers)
