Seminars to be sponsored

Hanover Shoe Farms will sponsor a series of seminars in 2005 for those considering first time purchase of a Standardbred. The Pennsylvania breeding farm will support the seminars, begun by the USTA in 1999, to educate potential horse owners before they make their first purchase.



"Hanover Shoe Farms wants to play a part in giving potential new horse owners the tools they need to be effective and successful." said Jim Simpson, president of Hanover Shoe Farms.



The agreement calls for a minimum of six seminars to be held with Hanover's sponsorship. At least two of those will be held at horse sales, the Garden State Standardbred Sale at Showplace Farm in New Jersey in September and the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pa., in November. No tuition will be charged, though advance registration is required in most cases.



About 140 alumni of past new owner seminars have purchased a Standardbred; and over 60 percent of them have bought more than one horse. Over 600 people in 11 states have attended the seminars.
