Series finals at Hawthorne

In the $15,500 Forest View Pacing Series Final, Fluff O Macktic left no doubt with a stunning 11-length victory in 1:53.2. The Armbro Mackintosh filly was slipped into leg two last week by owners Bill and Agnes Mowen and trainer Nick Prather and they held their breath that their fine filly wouldn’t be claimed.

That didn’t happen and she responded with an easy 4-length victory in that leg two appearance. With no claiming in the final, it was pure joy as Fluff O Macktic assumed command just past the half for driver Andy Miller and opened up the lead with every stride. Fox Valley Octavia finished second, while Eeny Rellim held on for third.

Rising Debt was gunning for his ninth consecutive victory in the $13,700 final of the Berwyn Pacing Series and the Todd Warren trainee was sent postward as the 4-5 favorite.

The Keystone Raider mare likes to control her own destiny on the lead, but she was hard-pressed for control by Silhouette who battled with her through the :27.4 and :56.2 initial panels. At the head of the stretch, Rising Debt was still in command, but was beginning to become under assault from several sources. I’m A Thrill, who was sitting third, shot through to take command, but right behind her was Halo Heather. Driver Jason Dillander moved Halo Heather outside and her late kick was sufficient to earn the Berwyn crown.

I’m A Thrill was a length back in second as Independent Babe squeezed through the inside to grab the third prize. Rising Debt’s win streak ended at eight as she finished in fifth in the 1:54.2 mile.
