Seven freshmen Bluegrass Friday at Red Mile

Return Home
September 25, 2012 | Print View

The freshman colt trotters and filly pacers take the stage for day two of the Red Mile Grand Circuit as part of a 12-race extravaganza on Friday evening.

The trotting colts split into four nine-horse divisions, each for a purse of $101,000. The first of the four is carded as race two and is perhaps the most competitive with Kentucky Sires Stakes champ Mystical Dew, American National winner Longwell, Pennsylvania Sires Stakes runner-up Major Athens and the streaking Pine Credit making for a very interesting start to the night's races.

New York Sires Stakes final winner Fashion Blizzard is listed to go in race five where he'll find solid competition in Wellwood Memorial elimination winner My Man Can and recent Kindergarten leg winner Jacks To Open.

Pacing fillies split into three nines, each for $108,700, and kick off with race three. This division features the recent world record setting I Luv The Nitelife, who squares off with her rival from north of the border, Parlee Beach and the good PA filly Donna Lee.

The second division is race six which kicks off a Pick-4 guaranteed at a minimum of $10,000. New Jersey Sires Stakes final winner Authorize and Kentuckiana Farms division winner Carol's Desire head up an evenly-matched field of nine.

In the 11th race, Nikki Beach comes in off a win in the Kentuckiana as well and just missed in the Sweetheart this summer. South Pacific is a filly that started late but has three wins in four starts in her brief career. (The Red Mile)
