Shady Matilda waltzes to Meadows win

Return Home
February 02, 2010 | Print View

Trailing by 7 1/2 lengths at the half, Shady Matilda unleashed her characteristic brush that nailed the leader and carried her to victory--her third in the last four starts--in Monday’s $25,000 Fillies and Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

With Spring Break on a comfortable lead, Brett Miller sent Shady Matilda uncovered on her mission. The 8-year-old daughter of Shady Character-Shore Drive hooked Spring Break in the stretch and held off the Lightning Lane thrust of Natalie to down that rival by a neck, in 1:54.1. Spring Break saved show.

James Perry Jr. trains Shady Matilda, who pushed her career bankroll north of $200,000 for Joann Perry. It was one of five wins on the 15-race card for Miller. (The Meadows)
