Shark Gesture appears OK

October 23, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Tony Alagna, assistant trainer of the Erv Miller Stable, based at Classy Lane Farm near Mohawk Racetrack, reported Monday morning that Shark Gesture is in remarkably good shape this morning. The 3-year-old son of Cam’s Card Shark is recovering well after his fall in Woodbine’s 10th race—the $25,000 Breeders Crown elimination for sophomore pacing colts—Saturday night.

“Of course, it’s a day-to-day thing, but this morning I jogged him and he was sound and he seems to be no worse for the wear; it’s like nothing happened to him,” Alagna said. “He’s just come out of this experience in great shape. We took digital x-rays of him yesterday and had no problems whatsoever. He’s just amazing and is feeling really well, just his old self.”

Shark Gesture fell and unseated driver Brian Sears in the late going of the final Breeders Crown elimination, after his right front hoof hit the wheel of Total Truth, who was just to the outside of him and who was bearing in just before the horses went under the wire. That caused Scootin Delight to fall, unseating driver John Campbell, who sustained a broken tibia as a result. Scootin Delight, a sophomore son of Bettor’s Delight, had to be euthanized at the scene as a result of his injuries.--Breeders Crown press release
