Shark Gesture turned in the fastest qualifying effort in history when he won at the Meadowlands Friday morning in 1:48.2. With George Brennan in the sulky, Shark Gesture started from post six but was immediately put on the engine.
Shark Gesture, a son of Cam's Card Shark, cranked out fractions of :26.3, :54.2 (in front by two lengths) and 1:22.1 (up by five lengths) before stretching his margin to 10 lengths at the stretch call. With a :26.1 last quarter, he hit the wire 17 1/2 lengths the best.
