Trainer Joe Holloway scratched Shebestingin (pictured) out of the Sept. 18 Jugette at Delaware, Ohio, after she drew poorly, but the resulting four-week layoff since her last start didn't have any effect as the daughter of Bettor's Delight scored a career best-equaling 1:49 victory in the $122,000 Bluegrass for 3-year-old filly pacers on Saturday night at The Red Mile.
David Miller was in the sulky as Shebestingin opened up a clear stretch lead, closing out her mile with a final quarter of :27.1. Parlee Beach and Tim Tetrick finished 3 1/2 lengths behind in second, with Authorize and Ron Pierce third after finding racing room.
Owned by Val D'Or farms, Ted Gewertz and L & L Devisser, Shebestingin is now an eight-time winner in 14 starts this year, with her previous scores including the Empire Breeders Classic final in August at Tioga Downs. She finished third in the Shady Daisy at Tioga Downs on Sept. 2, which was her last appearance on the track until Saturday night. The filly's earnings this year now stand at $377,414.
