August 26, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Fresh off her triumph in the Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stakes at Indiana Downs, Cabana Fever set a 1:51.4 track record at Mohawk Saturday night in winning one of three eliminations for the She’s A Great Lady Pace.

Trained by Joe Seekman and driven by Luc Ouellette, Cabana Fever bested the undefeated Luck Of Michelle, who was the leader before her foe edged to the front coming off the last turn. Michelle’s Power, who led the field to the first quarter in :27.1, took third, guaranteeing her entry into the final.

Cabana Fever is a daughter of Real Desire from the Jenna’s Beach Boy mare Beachy Lady. She’s now undefeated in three career starts.

Whitesand Gem upset Sweetheart Pace winner Isabelle Blue Chip in the second elim in 1:52.3, with Appleoosa Hanover finishing third to also earn a berth in the final. Mark MacDonald drove Whitesand Gem, a filly by Blissfull Hall, for trainer Erv Miller.

The third She’s A Great Lady elim went to Lady Mattgalane in 1:53.1. Driver Ron Pierce shot the filly to the front in a flash down the backstretch and they loafed to the halfway station in :29.4, which secured her victory. Whycantiforgetyou rallied for second while Betting Machine took third.

Lady Mattgalane, a daughter of Artiscape, is now undefeated in four starts for trainer Richard Norman, who worked as Brett Pelling’s assistant for many years.
