Shes A Great Lady final to Right Right in a lifetime best 1:53.4

It was the right kind of night for Andy Miller and Right Right as they captured the $672,000 Shes A Great Lady Final for two-year-old pacing fillies at Mohawk Saturday night.

It was Notjustaprettyface and Mark MacDonald who shot off the gate to the early lead, with elimination winner, Racing Star, tucked comfortably in the pocket. But Yannick Gingras didn’t linger there, moving Racing Star up to clear to the lead shortly after a first quarter in :27.0. Fellow elim victor, Backstreet Sweetie, and Mike Saftic rushed up to overtake within seconds, but Backstreet Sweetie bobbled and rolled off-stride, ending their challenge. So it was the chestnut filly, Racing Star, who kept command of the freshman field through the backstretch and the final turn, setting fractions of :55.2 and 1:25.0. As the field straightened for home, however, Jody Jamieson sent Break The News up on Racing Star’s outside, while Andy Miller and Right Right found another gear and accelerated two-wide to seize the victory in 1:53.4, a new lifetime clocking.

Break The News took the place spot, while a game Racing Star hung on for third.

Andy Miller commented, “I just didn’t want to rush her too much early. (I wanted to) get away fifth or sixth and work out a nice second-over or third-over trip. Her best game is finishing, so I didn’t want to use her up early. I just let her pace on the end of it. It worked out great. We got a great trip and at the top of the lane there was plenty of room and she took off.

“She’s getting smarter about it and a little more manageable. She puts out a good effort every time.”

Right Right a daughter of Cole Muffler, is trained by Erv Miller for Shim Racing LLC, John Carver, and Bert Hochsprung, all of Illinois. It was her third win in eight starts and upped her earnings past the half-million mark. (WEG)
