Shotgun Scott, who stood at stud at Winbak Farm in Delaware, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning at the age of 14. The son of Western Hanover had victories in the Metro Stakes elimination and the elimination for the Provincial Cup, taking a mark of 1:51 at three.

Shotgun Scott's offspring include Next Flight, p, 1:50f ($588,900), who was the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund champion at two and Delaware Standardbred Breeders Final champion twice at three.  One of his most recent big winners was I Love The Beach, who captured the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund final in 1:53.2f.

Shotgun Scott’s average earnings per starter for his offspring in Delaware was $41,055 and in 2008, 75 percent of his 2 year olds made it to the races. (Winbak Farm)
