Sire Stakes at Rosecroft

Mandas Mistyclover, a 3-year-old Dedicated Yankee filly owned by Donnie and Nancy Drewer, trotted wire to wire in a $3,000 division of the Maryland Sire Stakes Monday at Rosecroft Raceway. With Cliff Green in the sulky, the filly cut fractions of :29.3, 1:01.3 and 1:32.4 to draw away for the win with a mile timed in 2:03.2.

Trained by Darryle Dennis, Mandas Mistyclover earned her first win of the year after being dominant in the Sire Stakes as a 2 year old.

Double Time closed well for second with Gene Daisey Sr. in the sulky. The daughter of Progpocket trip through the race and stayed strong in the stretch.

In other racing news, Mr. Performer broke the Rosecroft track record for aged trotting geldings with a mile in 1:54.3. Racing for owners Stacy Johnson-Stafford and trainer-driver Art Stafford Jr., the 5-year-old Garland Lobell gelding closed with a :29.2 last quarter to win by over two lengths in the Open Trot worth $10,200.

The win marks his first of the year from 12 starts; last week, Mr. Performer finished second to Vivid Photo, who set a new world record for trotters on a five-eighths mile track.
