Tony Morgan won six races including his 11,000th career victory with Fresh Deck to highlight the Thursday card at Dover Downs, while Swing Master and Iwannabesedated won the co-features and the sport's leading driver Tim Tetrick had a triple.
Morgan made a great start on course for his next target, 12,000 wins, as he guided Fresh Deck to a 1:54.3 victory in a $10,500 pace, his 11,000th win. The victory was the third in a row for the fashionably bred Cam's Card Shark colt owned by Ted Gewertz, Val D'or Farm and Schoor-Racing Stable. Matts Millenium (Corey Callahan) was second. Payday Partner (Tetrick) finished third.
Greg Barone's first of two owner's wins came when Swing Master dashed smartly in deep stretch to win the $17,500 Delaware male pace in 1:54 with George Dennis in bike. Grand Affair had the lead at the top of the lane before Swing Master came on for the win. Grand Affair (Jim Morand) held on for second in front of Mr. Touring (Morgan).
In the co-feature race, Tetrick drove Bill Emmons' Iwannabesedated to hjs second win on the program to win a $30,000 claiming pace in 1:52.4. The Real Artist gelding beat Master Of Wars (Eddie Davis Jr.) second, and Killer Shark (Brad Hanners), third.
Mike Casalino's Wireless Hanover out-gamed Red Man N (Morgan) in deep stretch to win the first of two $25,000 claiming paces in 1:54.3. Tetrick drove the Badlands Hanover 5 year old to his second win in his last three starts. Vested Hanover (Brandon Givens) was the show horse.
Bill Emmons' classy veteran Gehrig made it three wins in a row taking a 1:54.1 victory in a $25,000 claiming pace with Tetrick at the controls. Just Wave Hello (Morgan) was runner-up followed by GE's Jackson (Corey Callahan).
In a $20,000 claimer, Swingingwithashark, who was claimed six straight starts earlier in the meet, came through with his first win of 2007 in seven races as Hanners drove the 6-year-old gelding home in 1:53.4 for owner Nathan Sipple. Koko In Flight (Mike Cole) came on for second with El Rojo Caballo (Givens) was third.
Morgan's fourth winner came piloting Juliana Swinford and Wendy Crissman's Battersby N in the fastest victory on the program, a 1:52 clocking in an $8.500 pace. Canvas Master (Tetrick) was a strong finishing second with Green Run Soldier (Eddie Davis Jr.) third. (Dover Downs)
