Six-pack for Bouchard

February 02, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

While Yonkers Raceway in no way condones drinking and driving, we are dutifully obligated to report that Stephane Bouchard Thursday night enjoyed a six-pack...and yes, he was steering vehicles with horsepower. Yonkers' leading driver won a half-dozen races on the 10-race, and he didn't even drive in two of 'em.

Bouchard overcame the eight hole in the $6,000 pacing opener, prevailing with Trapper's Treat ($15.40). After sitting out the second race, he won the $4,000, thrd-race pace with repeater Rootintootinfilly ($7.20).

Both Trapper's Treat and "Rootin" were trained ty Tom Shay.

Bouchard began the back-half blitz as Final Theme ($7) drew off from off-the-pace in the $8,000, sixth-race
pace. Then, odds-on JT Luther ($3.10) held sway wire-to-wire in the $8,000, seventh-race pace. "Luther," trained by Mark Ford, was Bouchard's only winning favorite.

Swift Sport ($6.90) paid immediate divdends in the $9,000, eighth-race pace, winning right off the claim by
trainer Ron Ingrassia.

Bouchard completing his happy half-dozen with Harmattan ($18.20) in the $8,000 pacing finale, coming from
off the pace to a win a blanket photo. Final Theme and Harmattan were both trained by Joe Guarino.

Live racing is currently offered at Yonkers with six programs per week--Monday, Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday and Saturday night at 7:40 PM, along with a Tuesday matinee at 1. The '07 stakes season begins Friday night, with the opening round of the Hopeful Pacing Series for 3-year-old fillies. (Yonkers)
