Sixdaysontheroad takes Cam Fella final

Sixdaysontheroad turned in a dazzling victory in the opening leg of the Cam Fella Pacing Series earlier this month, but he was a disappointing third-place finisher in last week’s second leg.  That left some handicappers asking themselves which Sixdaysontheroad would show up in Saturday’s $80,000 final at Woodbine Racetrack. It didn’t take very long for the Gord Remmen trainee to answer that question as he scored in 1:51.4.

 

The 4-year-old son of Allamerican Native-Resume Speed shot directly to the lead for driver Paul MacDonell,  who let the gelding front-step his way through fractions of :26, :55 and 1:22.3.  The pacer went unchallenged for the first seven-eighths of the mile, but he did come under attack over the final furlong of the eight-furlong affair.

 

Greystone Cash, who upended Sixdaysontheroad one week ago, unleashed a late rally and made things interesting for driver Randy Waples.  After getting stuck in traffic for most of the mile, Greystone Cash used his patented closing kick to make up more than eight lengths on the leader over the final quarter mile.  The late bid fell short, however, as Sixdaysontheroad used a :29.1 final quarter to seal the deal. Greystone Cash was second and Magicmaker rallied to finish third.
