Stephane Bouchard had such a Yonkers Raceway hot hand Monday night, he crossed the wire first five times, but won six races. After chasing home an odds-on winner in the opener, Bouchard won the $6,000, second-race trot with Quantum King Crab ($6.20) in 2:01. He then won the $8,000, third-race pace with the people's preference Kronos Hanover ($2.80) in 1:57. His 4-5 charge tired in the lane in the fourth race before he lit up the tote board in the $6,000, fifth-race trot. Colonial Mansion ($61.50) had hit the wire second, but the "winner" misbehaved so Bouchard had his picture taken at a very un-Bouchard-like 29-1. Bouchard finished fourth, seventh and last (eighth, at 7-5) in the next three events before winning races 9, 10 and 11. He won the $17,000, ninth-race pace with the pocket-sitter In the Mix ($21.40) in 1:54.1; the featured, $19,000, 10th-race pace with a romping B B Torio ($2.70) in 1:57.2, and the $17,000, 11th-race pace with favored Winbak the Bet ($4.50) in 1:55.1 Bouchard ended his night by finishing seventh and fifth, respectively, in Races 12 and 13.
