January 10, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

SJ Mr. Prince got up nearing the wire in 1:58.4 to win the $14,000 4&5-Year-Old feature trot at Dover Downs on Saturday, Jan.9. JK Cameo won the feature pace

Bobby Reeser left quickly with SJ Mr. Prince to get the early lead and then yielded as favorite Over Ruled (Brad Hanners) raced to the front at the clubhouse turn. Over Ruled built up a quick lead on the backstretch but tired badly in deep stretch. Prince SJ Mr. Prince closed on the outside to get up in the final strides. Janco (Kim Vincent) hustled down the passing lane to finish third in the tight photo. SJ Mr. Prince, a Prince Pine-Patty Morr four-year-old gelding, leased, trained and driven by Reeser, won his second straight and third victory in his last four starts.

JK Cameo had little trouble scoring a 1:57.2 front-end route victory to win the 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Vince Copeland drove the Art Major-Angel Be Great four-year-old to her second win in her last three outings. Infinite Desire (Sean Bier) was runner-up. Chellie's Dragon (Ross Wolfenden) was the show horse. The win was the second straight for Copeland who drove Brian Callahan's 17-1 Wynnfield Flash to a 1:55.4 win in a $12,500 Male pace.

In the $12,500 trot, Daryl Bier steered Charles Cochran's Up Down N Around to his fourth win of the meet, a 1:57.1 wire-to-wire victory. The Enjoy Lavec-Ashley's Carousel gelding bested Grand Photo (Frank Milby) and Fivedollarsforsox (George Dennis) to the wire.

Corey Callahan range up three wins, George Dennis had two.

A footnote on the DSOA awards-dinner story Friday night. The Harrington Raceway Trotter of the Year had co-winners. Allmars Surprise (not listed in the release) and Fivedollarsforsox.(Dover)
