Friday's Columbus Dispatch is reporting that an agreement is nearly complete that will allow the introduction of slots machines at the seven racetracks in Ohio. The newspaper reported that sources have revealed that Ohio's full House and Senate will vote on a two-year budget early next week and that the framework of the agreement calls for Gov. Ted Strickland to issue an executive order allowing the slot machines without a statewide vote.
The proposal reportedly currently calls for racetracks to pay a proposed $65 million license fee, with estimates calling for the plan to generate $933 million in revenue for the state over the next two years.
