Chicago shipper Mysterious Dragon bids for a repeat win in the second leg of the Snow Angel Series for 3-year-old filly pacers on Thursday night at the Meadowlands. Owned by Merv and Kelly Chupp, the daughter of Dragon Again made her Meadowlands debut a winning one in last week’s opening leg of the series. Under the care of conditioner Mark Silva while in New Jersey, Mysterious Dragon notched her fifth win of the season with a 1:53.1 mile.

"She is going to get better in the next couple of starts,” noted Silva. “She is a pretty big horse. She looks like a Meadowlands horse. She is big and strong with a long stride. In about two weeks, she will be much better. She will be more adapted to the track.”

A $2,000 yearling purchase at the 2004 Cottonwood Sale in Illinois, Mysterious Dragon has a career record of five wins, six seconds and four thirds in 18 starts and earnings of $31,989.

“She is going to stay (at the Meadowlands) for a while,” Silva said. “She fits into three series: White Ruffles, Night Styles and Jersey Girls."

Mysterious Dragon will start from post three in race eight, the second of the two $15,000 Snow Angel divisions on the Thursday card. She will face the formidable challenge of Heavenly Beauty, one of two Snow Angel winners for trainer Erv Miller last week. Heavenly Beauty has won three straight races, for 13 wins in 25 starts this season. She will start from post four in the eighth race, while her stablemate, Enhance The Night, tops the field for the sixth race Snow Angel division.

The top 10 money-earners in the first two rounds of the Snow Angel Series return for a $47,300 final on Dec. 14. (Meadowlands)
