Night Sounds and Grand Bend Turbo scored opening round victories in the Snowshoe Pacing Series for 3 and 4 year olds at Woodbine Friday night.

Night Sounds, with Mario Ballargeon in the bike, drew off to a 3 1/2-length victory over Pacific Jerry and Luc Ouellette in a lifetime best 1:55.1. It was the fourth win in the last five starts for the 4-year-old son of Artsplace. He's owned by the same people who captured Thursday night's Miss Vera Bar's final with Serenity Seelster: Glenn and Garth Bechtel and John MacMillan. William Companon trains Night Sounds.

In the second $16,000 ( C ) division Grand Bend Turbo held on for a wire-to-wire victory in 1:55 for Reginald Gassen. Torbram Road and Tony Kerwood were a neck back in second.

The winner is a 3-year-old Camluck colt owned by James Ainsworth, William Boden and Gassien. Calvin Campbell trains the colt who had a 1:53.4 lifetime best mile in a leg of the Count B Pacing Series at Woodbine.
