The amazing Snow White turned in another devastating performance in winning Sunday night's $575,400(C) Oakville Stakes final for 2-year-old filly trotters at Mohawk in a world-record equaling 1:54.2. The clocking by the daughter of Self Possessed-Mom’s Millionaire equaled the world mark, which was set by another daughter of Self Possessed, Possess The Magic, last fall in Lexington, Ky. In Sunday night's contest, the hulking filly sat patiently in third and watched as the undefeated Bella Dolce put up fractions of :27.4, :56.2, and 1:25.2. Driver John Campbell began to idle Snow White up on the outside in the third quarter, and had her right up beside the pacesetter at the top of the stretch. As the field turned for home, Snow White kicked it into another gear and powered away from her rivals with a solid :29 final frame. Dancing On Stage rallied for the place spot, while the longshot Saorse overcame a post 10 start to finish in the show spot. "I made her trot home once she made the lead," Campbell said. "It was her best race of the year. She was easy to handle and she was very strong at the head of the stretch. I had a lot of confidence in what she could do, but there were a lot of other good fillies in there. You always have to have respect for your opponents." Trainer Kevin Lare was in full agreement. "She's very special," Lare said. "I was very confident in her tonight. We'll go to Kentucky with her next, and then we'll come to Woodbine." The victory improved Snow White's record to eight wins in nine career starts for the North Street Stable and Harness the Power of Delaware. (WEG)
