June 15, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Bob MacDougall, Chairman of the SOA of New York Scholarship Committee, has announced that Christine Miecuna is the winner of the Association’s 2010-2011 Scholarship Award in the amount of $2,500 and Carrie Silver is the winner of the Association’s $1,500 award.

Christine Miecuna has just completed her second year of study at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., majoring in Management and Communications, and is currently on the Dean’s List. Carrie Silver just completed her first year at the University of Maryland in College Park, pursuing a course of study in Medicine/School of Kinesiology. She also is currently on the Dean’s List.

Bob MacDougall noted that the “Scholarship records of both winners, along with their participation in extracurricular activities were excellent, and should serve as examples for all high school and college students to follow. The Committee wishes all of the applicants the very best as they continue on with their education.”

The annual SOA scholarships are awarded to SOA members, or members of their immediate families, or to covered individuals (backstretch personnel) or a member of their immediate families, for study beyond the high school level. The recipient is chosen on the basis of merit and financial need. (SOANY)
