Sweet Day, Soggy Britches and Arts A Flutter won their respective divisions of the opening round of the Town Pro Series for 3-year-old filly pacers Monday night at Mohawk Racetrack.
Jody Jamieson directed Sweet Day to the inside late in the stretch to spring a 12-1 upset in a career-best 1:53.3. Sweet Day was able to put her head in front of favorite Nowaytotreatalady to score her second career victory. Steve Charlton trains the daughter of Draft Day for owner John Dalfonsi.
Heavily-favored Soggy Britches also set a career best with an impressive 1:52 effort for driver Mike Saftic. The win was the fourth in a row for the daughter of Allamerican Ingot trained by Tony O'Sullivan and owned by Emerald Highlands Farm. She has now won six of her seven career starts, all this year.
Arts A Flutter was also the odds-on choice in her Town Pro split and Randy Waples guided her to a 1:54.3 victory. Trained by Bob McIntosh, who shares ownership with Leo Beaudoin and David Kryway, Arts A Flutter is a daughter of Artiscape. Now a seven-time winner in nine starts, she also finished second in the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final at the Meadowlands late last month.
