According to reports, the connections of world champion freshman pacer Somebeachsomewhere have decided to curtail his juvenile season after going unbeaten in six starts, including that world-record 1:49.3 win in the $1 million Metro Sept. 1 at Mohawk Racetrack. Somebeachsomewhere’s sixth win of his young career came last Saturday night when he won the fastest of the three $145,300(C) Nassagaweya divisions with a 1:51.4 wire-to-wire effort for driver Paul MacDonell. Co-owner Brent MacGrath of the Schooner Stable told Doug Harkness of the Atlantic Post Calls afterward that the son of Mach Three will now take a break before resuming training for his 3-year-old campaign in 2008. “He really has nothing more to prove and the stable members all agreed it would be in the best interest of the horse if we didn’t extend his season.” McGrath was quoted as saying. “He’s won six straight, earned more than $800,000 and set a world record. I think he deserves a rest.”
