Federal Flex delivered as expected in Thursday night's $50,000(C) Bridger Trotting Series final for 2 year olds at Mohawk Racetrack, establishing a new stakes record of 1:56.4.

With Jody Jamieson in tow, the son of Muscles Yankee-Scully FBI got away third in the field of five and watched as Cantabs Pride put up the first quarter in :29. That lead was short-lived as pocket-sitter Triumphant Caviar made a quarter-pole move to command and took the field past the half in :59.1.

Jamieson continued to bide his time with the heavy favorite and eventually brought him to the outside in the third quarter with second choice Russell Hill following on his back. Federal Flex worked his way up to the leader right at the three-quarter mark in 1:29.

The sprint was on from there and no one was able to match the speed of Federal Flex who kicked in a :27.4 final frame under only minimal urging. Russell Hill was a solid runner up with Triumphant Caviar landing the show spot.

It was the second straight career victory for Federal Flex who scored in the opening round of the series before opting to skip round two. The lion's share of the purse boosted the Carl Jamieson trainee's bankroll to $35,000 for son Jody who co-owns along with Ken Henwood and Jeff Gillis.

Federal Flex is eligible to many of the lucrative stakes events remaining on the WEG calendar, including both the William Wellwood Memorial and the Valley Victory. (WEG)
