The 3-year-old gelded pacer Medoland Snuffy visited the winner’s circle for the third straight time on Wednesday when taking the featured $4,800 third-race pace at Pompano Park in a lifetime-best 1:54.2.

Driven from post one by Pompano Park’s leading driver Bruce Ranger, Medoland Snuffy was quick off the gate to take firm control of the race as the pacers reached the first turn. The son of Medoland Sam showed the way through an opening quarter mile in :28, before slowing things down with a moderate second panel in :30.1 to reach the half-mile pole in :58.1.

Unchallenged down the backstretch, Medoland Snuffy reached the three-quarters marker in 1:26 and entered the stretch with a 3 ½-length advantage before extending that margin to 4 ¼ lengths at the wire.

Medoland Snuffy returned $2.80, $2.40, $2.10 for the victory. All Star Roc (John Kakaley) brought in $2.60, $2.10 for second, while Time Slips Away (Gaston Lareau) paid $2.10 for third.

Owned and trained by Don Brainard of Coconut Creek, Fla., Medoland Snuffy has won five of 11 starts at Pompano this year. His current three-race winning streak began on March 28 when the gelding prevailed by 5 ½ lengths in 1:55.4.

The sophomore trotting colt Blessed Victory ($2.10) scored his second win in three career starts when taking the $3,200 ninth-race trot at Pompano on Wednesday evening.

Driven by Wally Hennessey for trainer Bill Gallagher, Blessed Victory took command of the race at the half-mile pole and cruised home to a convincing 6 ½-length victory, stopping the timer in 1:58.4.

Owned by John Liviakis of Mill Valley, Cal., Blessed Victory is a Hambletonian-eligible son of Conway Hall, out of the mare Dream On Candy, who won a Hambletonian Oaks elimination in her sophomore season and earned over $283,000 during her career. (Pompano Park)
