Last week in Monticello Raceway’s $13,000 Preferred Pace South Park Kid was overtaken in the lane by Nevertroubletroubl in a 1:55 clocking but on Tuesday South Park Kid turned the tables on Nevertroubletrouble when he emerged victorious in 1:57.4. Trainer Jimmy Carpenito again handed the lines to Billy Parker Jr. and the 13-time Monticello Raceway driving champ delivered the goods and got South Park Kid up in the final strides to collar Nevertroubletroubl for the pacer's seventh victory of the season. Nevertroubletroubl, who started from post position three with Mike Merton aboard, parked the odds-on favorite Chewy Gross (Stephane Bouchard) by the first panel in a swift :27.4. Merton then let Bouchard lead the way and Nevertroubletroubl got a two-hole journey until the top of the stretch at which point Chewy Gross chucked it and Nevertroubletroubl gained command only to be overtaken by a fast closing South Park Kid in the deep stretch. Third went to The Grand Poopa who was driven by Jimmy Marohn. “My horse was real strong at the finish and I didn’t even have to get after him…he was full of pace at the end,” Parker related. South Park Kid is owned by Rock C. Vinci of Parker also won two other races on the card. He scored with Kosher Dyl Pickle (1:59) in the third race and he also won the ninth with Wolf Creek Zeus (2:01.2). With those victories Parker now has 159 wins this season and he raised his lifetime total to 9,462 which is currently ninth best all-time in the sport. (Monticello)
