Southwind Tempo on a roll in Tarport Hap

Southwind Tempo made it nine wins in a row with a 1:50.3 win in the first division of the Tarport Hap.

Parked through the first turn to a wicked :26.2 first quarter, Southwind Tempo and driver Tim Tetrick made it to the front and never looked back.  Cabana Fever made a hard bid from third after the half, but floated wide out of the turn.  Artcotic and Tidewaterdragonfly gave chase half-way down the stretch, but their :26.2 last quarters could not catch Southwind Tempo.

Steve Elliott has had Southwind Tempo on a roll, winning just last week in 1:50.3 in the $50,000 Valley Forge at Chester Downs for owners Alton Lynch, Jr. and Wayne Chrebet.

Other winners of the $59,000 Tarport Hap were longshot Me and My Baby, with Ron Pierce up and Lady Mattgalane and Brian Sears.

Making her third straight stakes win, Lady Mattgalane won in 1:51.1 to take the third division.  Leaving from post five, she was parked until the half but held off a fast closing Mind Boggling and David Miller.  Lady Mattgalane is trained by Gregory Peck for Perretti Racing Stable LLC and Clay and Scott Homer.

Taking the second division of the Tarport Hap was Me and My Baby for trainer Bruce Nickells.  Owned by Glenby Farms of Florida, Me and My Baby took a new lifetime mark of 1:51.  Western Montana and Dave Palone finished second with Mystical Dreamer and Brian Sears taking third.
