Trainer Steve Elliott told harnessracing.com Thursday afternoon that his top-ranked 3-year-old filly pacer Southwind Tempo will be entered in next week’s Jugette and not in the Little Brown Jug against her male peers. “I talked it over with the owners and I don’t really think she should be in against the colts (in the Sept. 20 Jug). We discussed it and decided to go in the Jugette (on Wednesday, Sept. 19),” said Elliott by cell phone from Owned by Toby Lynch Jr. and Wayne Chrebet, Southwind Tempo has won 14 of 17 starts this year, including a world-record 1:49.3 effort in the James Lynch Memorial final over the five-eighths mile oval at Pocono Downs, and a similar clocking in her Mistletoe Shalee elimination at the Meadowlands.
