Southwind Tempo won the $200,000 Golden Girls for older pacing mares Saturday night at the Meadowlands, crossing the wire in 1:50.1. Driven by Tim Tetrick, Southwind Tempo led at every call, setting fractions of :28, :55.2 and 1:23.2 before closing out her mile with a final quarter of :26.4.
A 5-year-old daughter of Bettor's Delight, Southwind Tempo is owned by Let It Ride Stables and Jerry Silva. Tim Tetrick was in the sulky for trainer Ross Croghan.
Finishing three-quarters of a length behind in second was the George Brennan-driven Hana Hanover, with A And G'sconfusion and driver Davie Miller third.
Southwind Tempo's win was her sixth of the year in 11 starts, increasing her seasonal earnings to $670,179 and career bankroll to $1,959,331.
