Southwind Tempo wins in 1:50.2

Harrah's Chester opened its 2008 racing season on Sunday afternoon and Southwind Tempo used a leg ot the track's Betsy Ross Series to pick up her 23rd career victory, and fourth of the season in five starts, with her 1:50.2 effort. She defeated Symphony In Motion, a seven-time winner this year, and Darlin's Delight, who was making her first start of the season.
 
Southwind Tempo started from post six--outside of both Symphony In Motion and Darlin's Delight--and driver John Campbell sent her to the lead. They secured the point and cruised on to a 3 1/2-length score in 1:50.2.
 
Southwind Tempo had suffered her first defeat of the seaso non April 7 in a leg of the Classic Series at Dover Downs, when My Little Dragon caught her in the closing strides.
 
My Little Dragon drew into the first Betsy Ross division and was upset by Life Of Luxury N, a 7-year-old New Zealand-bred mare by the sire Live Or Die. Trained by Jeff Webster and also driven by Campbell, Life Of Luxury N got away seventh in the eight-horse field, but flew home in :26.3 to win by 2 3/4 lengths over Illusionist in 1:51.
 
My Little Dragon, with Brian Sears aboard, was sent to the front early in the race, but was parked out through middle splits in :28 and change.She finished third.
