Southwind Wasabi vaulted over $600,000 in career earnings with a dominating victory in Tuesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot at The Meadows.
Southwind Wasabi was hammered down to 3-5 in the wagering on the strength of her respectable fourth-place finish in last month’s Breeders Crown Mare Trot. She justified that support when she made the lead for Dave Palone with a quarter-pole move and was unchallenged thereafter, cruising home in 1:54.4.
The pocket-sitting BV’s Sister was second, 1-1/2 lengths back, with Caviar Forthe Lady a ground-saving third. It was one of five wins on the 15-race card for Palone.
