Speed badge to Spectacular

Speed honors for the fastest mile on the nine-race Meadowlands card Thursday night went to the Illinois-bred Spectacular Cam, who--in direct contrast to her wire-to-wire win last week--rallied from behind to score in 1:53 in a $17,500 conditioned pace.

With David Miller in the sulky, Spectacular Cam closed from sixth at the half to defeat Odds On Diana by 1 1/4 lengths, with Bell Bottom Pans third. It was the fifth win of the year in eight starts for Spectacular Cam, who began 2007 competing at Balmoral Park in Chicago.

Trained by Homer Hochstetler for owners Arthur and Shirley LeVin, Spectacular Cam is a 4-year-old daughter of Park Lane Cheer, who finished third in the 1997 Orange & Blue final at two. Park Lane Cheer is a half sister to the $476,000-winning AJ's Dan, whose biggest victory came in the $120,000 Maywood Pace in 1993.

Spectacular Cam increased her career resume to 32-9-4-4 and $60,901.
