The best was saved until last as Redhot’s Memory, the last yearling to enter the sales ring at the Land Of Lincoln Sale Sunday afternoon at Walker Standardbred Farm in Sherman, Ill., topped the sale with a $95,000 bid from John Carver. The under bidder on the highest priced yearling ever sold by Fox Valley Standardbreds was Brian Walkington, who was representing Sawgrass Farms’ James Jesk, the owner of Meadowlands Pace winner Art Official.

Redhot’s Memory is a Sportsmaster full sister to Hot N Sporty p,2, 1:50.2 ($330,925) and a half sister to last year’s top freshman  pacing filly She’s So Hot p,2, 1:51.1 ($221,091).

Walkington, however, did not leave the sale empty handed for Sawgrass Farms as he got the final bid of $65,000 for the next-to-last yearling, Rocknroll Fever, a colt from the first crop by 2005 Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover, who was consigned by Wisconsin Standardbreds.

The highest priced trotting-bred yearling was Six Figure Dreams, a filly by Kadabra consigned by Fox Valley Standardbreds which was purchased by Mystical Marker Farms and Mike Anderson for $41,000.

Despite the two high-priced yearlings to conclude the sale, the figures for the sale were down compared to last year. The sale sold 125 yearlings for $1,243,450 and a $9,948 average, which was down 13.8 percent from last year’s $11,538 average.
