Locked in around the final turn and seemingly racing for a minor check, Spring Break threaded her way to daylight and powered home to capture Monday’s $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Spring Break left for position but found herself seriously shuffled as the field turned for home. Once Mike Wilder guided her through traffic, the 6-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Siobhan knifed into the Lightning Lane and brushed past Natalie, downing that rival by a nose in 1:53.4 over a “good” surface. Fox Valley Sarong completed the ticket.
Randy Bendis trains Spring Break, who pushed her career bankroll north of $500,000 for Joann and Joe Thomson.
Bendis fashioned a triple on the 15-race card while Aaron Merriman and Brett Miller each drove three winners. (The Meadows)
