Arty Foster’s Spunky Vic ($11.60, Ross Wolfenden) pulled off a mild upset in the $21,700 Junior Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:57.
The 5-year-old Valley Victor gelding followed pacesetter and favorite Allmar Surprise throughout but Wolfenden pulled pocket on the final turn as "Surprise" tired. Spunky Vic drew clear and held off Lt’s Best and Juanita for the win.
It was the sixth win of the 2009 campaign for Spunky Vic, also trained by Foster, who is just shy of $100,000 in seasonal earnings.
Driver Tony Morgan registered four wins on the program. (Harrington)
