Carl Cito Jr.’s and Ellen Manzi’s Stacelita established a new Harrah’s Chester record for distaff trotters of any age by trotting a mile in 1:54.3 in capturing Thursday's Open Handicap over six geldings and one other mare. Driven by Hall of Famer Catello Manzi, Stacelita went to the front from third after a first quarter of :27.4, and cruised through fractions of :56.3 and 1:25 en route to her final clocking. The 6-year-old mare is a daughter of Angus Hall out of the mare, Mischip, and is trained by her co-owner, Cito.
The victory was Stacelita’s ninth from 51 lifetime starts and pushed her career earnings to $116,318.
