Star wires Balmoral trotters

Universal Star trotted to a lifetime-best 1:55.2 in the $15,500 Open Handicap at Balmoral Park Tuesday night.



Driven by Andy Miller, the 5-year-old Keep It a Secret gelding wired the field, finishing 2 ¾ lengths ahead of Southern Victoriak (Art Gregory Jr.). American Lane (Homer Hochstetler) zoomed home in :27.3 to grab third.



Universal Star is three for four this year for owners Jackie Richard, Sally Richard and Renee Irvine and trainer Doug Hamilton.
