Colonial Drivin’ Miss Rudee and Racing Naked combine to form a powerful entry for owner William M. Camp Jr. and trainer John Sumner. Both are former Virginia-bred champions with multiple wins at the one-turn mile this fall. Drivin’ Miss Rudee comes in to the Virginia Breeders riding a two-race win streak, including a dominant four-length win in $10,000 mares winners-over event last Tuesday. The 5-year-old Walton Racing Naked has been one of the fastest Virginia-breds in training throughout his six-year career. The 7-year-old Misfit horse finished third behind rival Cool Flying Fun in the 2-year-old Breeders final and got his revenge with a win in the 3-year-old edition in 2003. Racing Naked has the field’s best lifetime mark, a 1:49.4 mark set last fall at Colonial, and comes into Tuesday’s race fresh off a 1:50 score in a conditioned pace on Oct. 20.
Cool Flying Fun is 20-1 on the morning line despite bringing easily the field’s largest bankroll of $409,127 to the Virginia Breeders final. The 7-year-old Bonnie And Clyde horse enjoyed a banner 2006 with 10 wins and $155,796 in earnings but has struggled to repeat in 2007. Shaun Callahan trains Cool Flying Fun for owner Nicholas I. Callahan.
Read Racing’s Stately’s Hoss is the 7-5 morning line favorite. Trained and driven by Dean Collins, Stately’s Hoss owns a win over Racing Naked three starts back and two close-up finishes behind the top two pacers on the grounds, Temptation and Megabucks N, in his most recent starts. The 4-year-old The Pandersa horse will start from post six. Four Starz Search, Firm Fatale, Charlie and Toni’s Future complete the lineup. (Colonial Downs)
