Stoman overcame post nine to score the fastest mile of the evening on Wednesday at Scioto Downs when he paced to a 1:56.1 win for owner-trainer Doug Stovall and driver Trent Tharps Jr. Tharps sent the 11-1 shot to the front with a fast :27.4 opening panel, then slowed the tempo going to the half. Favored Valid Moment came calling on the outside in the final quarter, but Stoman had enough left to hold him off by a neck. Stoman paid $24.40 to win in posting his first win of the season after three qualifying races. The winner is a sophomore son of Market Report. Valid Moment was second and Ari Cruiser was third. Driver Dan Noble had a driving triple. (Scioto Downs)
