A massive electrical storm hit Mohawk Racetrack on Sunday night after race five and forced the cancellation of the balance of the program.

The OSS Gold Final for three-year-old colt pacers and a Gold elimination for two-year-old filly pacers were unable to be contested and have been carried over to the beginning of the Monday program.

The Gold Final will go postward at 6:30 p.m. with the Gold elimination to follow at 6:45 p.m. Horseman are reminded to have their horses in the paddock 90 minutes prior to their scheduled post time. Both races will be held as non-wagering events prior to the regularly scheduled Monday program which gets underway at 7:20 p.m.

There was a single Gold elimination for the two-year-old filly pacers contested on Sunday night at Mohawk prior to the cancellation. It was Western Silk prevailing as the favourite in the $40,000 contest.

The filly, with Mark MacDonald driving, sat seventh in the early going as Tiz A Dream put up the first half of :56.3. She was then able to follow cover in the third quarter and had worked her way into a perfect striking position second-over as the field turned for home.

In the stretch, the daughter of Western Terror - Extemporaneous blasted off her cover and won going away in 1:53.1. Precious Cammill rallied sharply to pick up the place spot with Tiz A Dream holding on for third.

It was the second win in three career starts for Western Silk who is co-owned by trainer Casie Coleman along with Tom Hill of Lancashire, Great Britain. (WEG)
