Strange Barry Bonds promotion at Cal-Expo

The Sacramento Harness Association has announced a Cal-Expo promotion to coincide with San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds' quest for his record 756th home run, including a giveaway of 200 inflatables of a syringe with Bonds' number 25 on the back. The blow-ups come from a company called www.steroidslugger.com, and on its website it promotes their sale as "bring to the ballpark and heckle everyone's "favorite" Steroid Slugger!"

On the night Bonds hits his 756th home run to surpass Hank Aaron's record, the first 200 fans to sign up for the CalX Home Run Derby will swing for $756 in cash prizes and also receive the "unique" inflatable commemorative item. The inflatable also includes a pair of arms--bulging with muscles.

Prize money will be awarded to the fan of each gender that hits the longest shot. Those 17 years of age and under will also be invited to take their turn at bat with some baseball gear up for grabs.

Since nobody knows when the record setter will be hit, Sacramento Harness Association�s general manager Dick Feinberg encourages fans to come out to the track as often as possible.

"We�ve got all the ball games on Fox Sports Net (FSN) and local cable,� said Feinberg. "So I want to invite everyone to come out to Cal-Expo Harness Racing, enjoy our exciting live racing, our nightly food and drink specials, and wait for number 756 to sail out of the park.� (with files from SHA)
