On June 30, 1987, Jordan Stratton first saw the light of day and on his birthday 21 years later Monticello Raceway’s leading driver won six consecutive races on the Mighty M Monday card.

Stratton began his assault in the second race with a 2:00.2 trotting victory with September Stables' Miss Vicky Velvet ($2.50) and then won the third race behind Doc Gill’s Sealed With Love ($4.80) in 1:59.4. His third triumph followed in race four with Ed and Kathryn Quick and Jordan Farkas’ Magical Kate ($9.10) in a time of 2:01.3 and win number four was with Vincent Nardello’s trotter Lady Traveler in 2:01.

Stratton then won the sixth race with Pacer Enterprises' Eagle Together ($2.80) in a 1:59.2 clocking and his sixth consecutive triumph came behind Jason Topi’s L’B Maya Indian ($27.40) in 1:57.4.

Stratton  has certainly has come of age and his moniker of “The Kid,” though still meaningful at age 21, can now be dropped. Prior to his six victories on Monday, Stratton  had 263 season driving victories, 202 seconds and 196 thirds with a UDR of .281 and purses in excess of $1.56 million. Sratton’s 263 wins--163 of which came here--currently ranks him seventh on the North American leaderboard. (Monticello)
