A first-time trainer penalty of a 10-year suspension and $50,000 fine and a second penalty of license revocation for blood doping is in the works in New Jersey, a policy that was noted by New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority senior vice president of racing Dennis Dowd at the Meadowlands Pace press conference Tuesday afternoon at the Meadowlands. The proposed New Jersey Racing Commission (NJRC) policy for EPO testing is currently open for public comment, and a hearing should be held in approximately two months. If instituted, it would then take effect within a month.
