Strike up the band

In a break from the usual bake sales and car washes, high school bands will have a chance to raise money doing what they do best--making music. The Third Annual Hambletonian Parade is offering a $1,000 prize to the best high school band marching in the July 30 event to kick off Hambletonian week.



The prize, sponsored by the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, will be awarded to a band, representing any high school, regardless of size or location, that marches in the Hambletonian Parade, at 10 am on Saturday, July 30, in Rutherford, N.J.



In addition to the $1,000 prize, the winning band will play at the Hambletonian Festival in Lincoln Park, immediately following the parade, and will get a chance to perform on Hambletonian day at The Meadowlands Racetrack on Aug. 6. The Hambletonian will be telecast live on CBS television.
