Daughters of Striking Sahbra took two of the four $40,000(C) Ontario Sire Stakes Gold eliminations for 2-year-old filly trotters Monday night at Mohawk Racetrack. Cumin First took the first split for driver Rick Zeron and turned in the fastest clocking with a 1:58.3 effort. The daughter of Striking Sahbra-Look Whos Cumin was almost five lengths better than Daylon Mystique and Lookin Back At You. Cumin First overcame post 10 to record her third consecutive victory for trainer Frank O'Reilly. She captured the first OSS Gold event of the season at Flamboro Downs on July 20 and now sits with $100,000 in seasonal earnings for owners Mary Anne Lauzon, Dr. Ruth Irving, Jim Fielding and John Jesson. The other Striking Sahbra filly to emerge victorious was Magic Debut in the final split for Trevor Ritchie in 1:59.4. Other elimination winners included Easter Bonnet (Berndt Hanover) for Guy Gagnon in 1:59.1 and Ill Wait For You (Kadabra) for Paul MacDonell in 1:59.4. The top two finishers automatically earned a birth into the $120,000 next Monday night at Mohawk while two third-place finishers were drawn by lot. The two lucky entrants who drew in were Serenas Genie and Elusive Desire. Also featured on next Monday's program from Mohawk will be the $56,000 final of the Dream Maker Series for two-year-old colt and gelding pacers.
