Suit filed against Yonkers

The Standardbred Owners Association of New York has filed a lawsuit seeking the immediate re-opening of Yonkers Raceway, as well as monetary damages for unpaid purses and breach of contract.



Yonkers has been closed since June 2005 for construction of its video gaming parlor, with an agreement with the SOA calling for the re-opening to commence within four months. A press release issued by the SOA stated that nearly $2.5 million in purse money has been withheld.
