Sulkies, harness taken

Return Home
April 09, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Six race sulkies, a jog cart, numerous sets of harness and other equipment were stolen from trainers based at the farm of Bob Rosenheim near Saratoga Springs, NY, early Monday morning, and horsemen should be aware of anyone trying to sell used equipment that could be the stolen goods.

Trainer Paul Kelley, who is training 15 horses at Rosenheim’s farm, was among those who had equipment stolen. “I got a call at 7 am from one of my employees who said, `We were robbed last night,” Kelley recalled. “The State Police have reason to believe that the people who did this were probably here in advance to case the place. Apparently there were people here 10 days ago and they said they were connected to a trainer who was wanting stalls here.”

Kelley had three race sulkies stolen: a 6.2 Evolution, painted white with brown and yellow pinstripes; a 6.3 AdvantEdge, painted yellow with brown pinstriping; and a silver Jerald Tornado. All three sulkies had “Kelley Racing Stable” on them.

“There were tracks from sulky wheels that go from the back of our barn, down the track, all the way to an access road to a neighboring property,” added Kelley. “Whoever did this, they knew what they were doing.”
