With the Elitlopp less than a month away, Mr. Muscleman showed he was ready for Europe's best as he cruised to an open-lengths victory in 1:53.1 in a leg of the Father Foley Memorial Trot Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands.
With regular driver Ron Piece aboard, Mr. Muscleman left the gate leisurely and steadily trotted toward the lead, finally reaching the front of the field at about the time the first quarter flashed at :27.2. From there he trotted uncontested to the half in :56.4--a :29.2 second panel--before Beach Nut Brand briefly reached his flank before the three-quarters was reached in 1:26.2.
At the top of the homestretch Mr. Muscleman began pulling away and the result of the race was never in doubt.
Mr. Muscleman has been invited to compete in Sweden's famed Elitlopp, which will be held Sunday, May 27, in Stockholm.
